Courtney Harris, LCSW-C, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. She then obtained her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in Baltimore, Maryland. With over 20 years of experience, she has worked with diverse populations in various mental health settings including hospitals, schools, homes, and residential settings. Courtney works with both children and adults.

She aims to provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment for all her clients, allowing them to feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring their challenges and goals through therapy. Taking into consideration the various factors that impact our lives including family dynamics, stress, work, relationships, mental and physical health, environment, and past experiences, she uses holistic, strength-based, person-centered, and solution-focused approaches.

Courtney has extensive experience working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, as well as Perinatal and Postpartum Mood Disorders. She has also worked with clients on issues such as self-esteem, body image, parenting skills, complex medical problems, grief, and bereavement.

Given her experience in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Units, Courtney is well-versed in the challenges parents face in processing, adjusting, and coping with expected and unexpected hospital courses. She has worked with individuals and couples dealing with prenatal diagnoses, high-risk pregnancies, fetal anomalies/genetic syndromes, birth trauma, perinatal loss, neonatal loss, perinatal mood disorders, postpartum mood disorders, as well as medically fragile patients and their families.

Recognizing life's challenges and transitions, Courtney aims to provide support, encouragement, and effective coping methods to help clients uncover their strengths, build confidence, and navigate challenges while celebrating positive experiences and living fulfilling lives.
